Was I on a date last night?

This guy I work with asked me through text if I wanted to do something the other day, so I said sure. We ended up meeting up and going to the movies. I thought we were just hanging out until he ended up paying for my ticket, I was planning on buying it myself. I asked him if he wanted me to pay him back for it and he said no. Then he asked if I wanted to grab a bite to eat and at that point, I was kind of freaking out because I didn't want to "date" him, so I sort of stalled and we just walked around the city the rest of the night. He's a really nice, funny, and cool guy, but I'm just not into him like that. He texts me all night until I fall asleep and then all day, so I'm convinced he's interested. It's just that I'm not, what should I do?
